What Is Eternal Life?
In John 17:1-3, Jesus looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the time has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son may glorify You. For You granted Him authority over all people that He might give eternal life to all those You have given Him. Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.”
The reason for John’s gospel is in John 20:30-31 which says, “Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His Name.”
In John 3:15-18, it says that “Everyone who believes in Him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”
John 3:36 says, “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.” John 3:3 says, “Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Eternal life is in “knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom He sent.” Do you know the only true God and Jesus Christ? If not, will you believe in His Son, Jesus Christ?
